How to report a calculation error
For an error report, include the following information where available:
- Which page. Copy the address from your browser.
- What you typed. The exact inputs — an area, a birth date, a monthly salary, a kWh reading.
- What appeared, and what you expected. Include both numbers.
- Where your number came from. A bill, a contract, an official calculator, a clause of the statute. This helps identify the applicable rule.
You can also include a screenshot. Confirmed calculation errors are corrected and covered by a regression test.
Four common differences in calculator results
The explanations below cover differences caused by counting conventions or calculation assumptions. They may help clarify a result before you send a report.
- “The listing says 32 pyeong but the contract says 84㎡.” Both are correct and they describe different areas — pyeong to square meters.
- “The form asks my age and I have three.” Which one applies depends on what the form is for — Korean age.
- “I used slightly more power and the bill jumped.” Crossing a tier moves the base charge as well as the rate — electricity bill.
- “The 100th day is one day early.” The day of birth counts as day one, so it lands 99 days later — 100-day calculator.
Report outdated rates or unclear wording
Pages built on a tariff, a statutory rate, or a yearly figure print the date that number was last compared with its source. If a newer notice has been published since, send a link to the notice so the calculation and check date can be reviewed.
For unclear wording, quote the sentence and say which term or explanation was difficult to understand.
Suggesting a calculator
Suggestions should involve a calculation with a defined formula or rule, such as area conversion, date counting, tax bands or tariffs. The site cannot decide individual immigration cases, tax rulings, employer policies or discretionary household discounts.
Describe what you need to calculate, the inputs available and what the existing tools do not cover.
Individual decisions and reply times
Calcmemo is run by one person, so a reply can take several days. Calculation errors are reviewed first.
No individual case can be decided here. A visa question belongs to immigration, a tax assessment to the district office or a licensed tax accountant, a contract dispute to a lawyer, and a benefit claim to the agency that pays it. Calcmemo shows the calculation and its source so you can check the assumptions with the responsible office. More about who maintains the site and how it is checked is on the about page.
